Last week, Year 4 took full advantage of the glorious Summer weather and had some lessons outside!
As they are learning about light and shadows in their Science topic, it was the perfect opportunity to go outside and investigate. The children were finding out how the length of their shadows change throughout the day. They took numerous measurements between the start and end of school and discovered that their shadows got shorter throughout the morning, until noon when the shadows were at their shortest point. Then, they began to get longer again in the afternoon. The children also found that your shadow changes the direction it faces. This is because the sun rises in the east and sets in the west.
