Learning

A well planned, balanced Early Years curriculum is delivered by highly qualified & experienced Early Years Professionals whilst group sizes are purposely kept small to ensure every child receives the support and care they require to meet their individual need. At Moorlands we have three nursery classes Kittens, Squirrels and Foxes. At the age of 4, Moorlands children move up into Reception class.

Staffing levels are maintained to ensure individual children’s needs are constantly met: importantly, all staff are trained Early Years Professionals, with the knowledge and skills needed to enable your child to reach their full potential during their crucial formative years. Whilst celebrating the individuality of each child and within a stimulating and educationally rich learning environment, we encourage our children to show respect for themselves and each other. Transition though the unit is a seamless and natural progression with all staff being familiar with all children thus enabling them to grow, progress and develop in a happy and secure environment.

The curriculum is delivered in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage covering the six areas of learning:

* Personal, social and emotional development

* Communication, language and literacy

* Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy

* Knowledge and understanding of the world

* Physical development

* Creative development
