Sport at Moorlands

At Moorlands, we believe in healthy competition. While we understand that not every child excels at sport, our sports hall, hard playground and floodlit laying field allow children to participate n a tremendous range of activities, both team and individual sports, taught by qualified PE specialists. This enables a high degree of personal achievement and enjoyment.

Pupils compete against other schools throughout the North from Under 9 level upwards in all major team sports including rugby, cricket, netball, football, hockey and swimming, with a full fixture list each term. These galas and games foster team spirit and sportsmanship. At times, sports tours are also arranged.

Our excellent 20 metre swimming pool and fully qualified teaching staff offer the opportunity for every Moorlands child to swim, learn water sports and water safety awareness. The pool is also available for family and community use.

Sports Day is a Moorlands tradition with everyone taking part in traditional races such as egg and spoon and sack race for Foundation Unit children. Older pupils use Leeds Metropolitan University facilities for track and field events.

Another famous Moorlands tradition is the Foxhill Run; a cross country run through our own grounds with every child from year 2 upwards taking part.
