Subjects
The academic programme is designed to accommodate a wide range of ability and backgrounds. Our pupil/teacher ratio is generous, allowing for small classes and consequently a great deal of individual attention. Teaching methods combine the best of traditional approaches with modern methodology such as inter-active white boards.
Pupils are regularly assessed to highlight their strengths and standardised external testing is an annual event. All important basics such as reading, handwriting and numeracy exceed all the requirements of the National Curriculum. As children move through the school they encounter specialist teaching in all subject areas. They are also introduced to additional subjects such as French from age seven and Latin from age ten.
Children are encouraged to achieve their full potential through our understanding of their individual learning styles and through extension work. At the top of the school, able pupils are regularly working well ahead of their age group.
