Religious Education
Through Religious Studies we aim to equip the pupils with knowledge and understanding of major world religions, and significant figures within those religions. A part of the lesson is spent in discussion, enabling each child to develop informed opinions, whilst learning to respect the views of those whose ideas are different from their own.
Pupils approach R.S. with increasing confidence in the following attitudes and skills:
- A sense of wonder and respect for the world
- A confidence in their own sense of identity
- A respect for, and willingness to learn from others
- A recognition of the variety of religious responses
- A willingness to tolerate uncertainty and controversy
- A readiness to discuss religious issues openly, accepting a diversity of practice
- An understanding of the implications of commitment
